I agree with Lamarsh, it's hard to know what exactly is considered spam here on YE. What's spam to one person is not necessarily considered spam to another person...I've seen tons of people here asking to have their site reviewed over, and over, and over again - even if the site is located on their signature!!!

    Isn't that considered spamming???

So the regulars here should not be pointing fingers at the newbies or anyone (except for cindrella) - they come in here, read a bunch of what they would consider "spam-looking posts" from the regulars and simply follow suit.

The way I see it, we're all guilty of "spamming".

It's that red-border triangle button right below the donate link on the left.

The report PMs feature is available on VB but it doesn't seem to be enabled on this forum. Maybe you can try adding these members to your ignore/block list (if the feature has been enabled ), hopefully that helps your inbox just a bit.

That's so odd. I've always thought that you deleted your own posts, I have noticed they disappear sometimes. How annoying.

    banned for life

cindrella has been banned for life due to all of the SPAM.

Any other disney characters out there that want to spam this forum?

We are working on updating our system which will eliminate alot of the spam opportunities and will put systems in place to ensure our spam policies as well.

Also, if you ever feel as though there is a member that is violating our spam rules, please feel free to PM me: bizguy

    Thanks,

I remember hearing back in the early 2000's bill gates said the best way to stop email spam was to charge a fraction of a penny per email, that way if you sent normal emails you might spend $40 a year on email, but it would put hi volume spammers out of business....the only catch, all those fractions of a penny go to microsoft for managing the system...good idea, for microsoft.

the thing is though is that it works...spammers just go around and post in as many places as possible, and then leave....so even if you charge a minimal amount of money you'll drive off at least the majority of spammers, to go look for an easier place to post.

As for the spammers that are not as blatant, it has to be up to the admins to decide what is or is not spam. It's a forum, virtual forum, not a country with laws, its a forum with RULES...and the spammers will just push the rules to their breaking point, but somehow just stay inside..it's up to the Admins to say, nope that's spam, thats not a description of your business, or nope thats spam, thats not a question about how often other people use services similar to yours...

sorry for rambling I was an Admin in a small, but now defunct linux forum...lets just say I learned alot about Viagra.

How can we say exactly is a post is a spam or not?
    What are the qualifications?
