Question Yes. Another MySpace Thread!

So.

We've seen HEAPS of threats about MySpace. However, I usually don't get a chance to actually read them. I just hear about them from other people.

I've created www.amieetheridge.com - simple enough. Purely about me (sounds vain I know!).

The point is to promote myself as my own brand, and everything else is a sub-branch.

I've noticed posting MySpace bulletins about the amieetheridge.com website gets LOADS more hits than promoting any of the other sites.

This is probably because it's more personal.

My question is this: What can I do via MySpace to attract more people?

Obviously I can add more people and keep posting bulletins, but that gets old.

I was thinking perhaps some sort of Networking?

For Instance. I'll post a bulletin about a band, and they post a bulletin about me.

Getting different people to do it will bring about different leads.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Amie

Well, getting people to your site is one thing, but having them comeback is a totally different story.

Most personal sites dont have adsense all over the place, in fact there is more adsense than personal information.

So, if you want to promote you and your brand, why would you want attention somewhere other than your info and your links. Take down the adsense, focus on what you want to promote and maybe more people who do visit, come back for more.

Also, spamming people via bulletins is the quickest way to get de-friended by people like me on myspace. good luck to you.

I'm not going to post 10bulletins a day about crap.

I only do about 1 a week.

I put Adsense on the site because a lot people I have spoken to suggested putting on. These being professional people, not just joe blow down the street.

"If they don't like what you have on your website, at least get them to click an ad so you make some money out your efforts"

So far what I'm doing has proved successful so far. I've had website sales and more subscriptions to Lot123, etc.

I don't plan on ever spamming people. I hate spam with a passion, and even I delete bands that posted a bulletin every half hour about their latest tour. So I know where you're coming from there.

Oh, and I plan to put more on the website, but I work about 10-12 hours a day currently aswell as looking after a household so my time is spread pretty thin. I will get there though.

Cheers,
Amie

Internet surfers love sites that make them feel part of something big. A good way to keep traffic is to keep interaction. Ask your visitors to send you stuff about them, create contest, ect. Make your websites a place where they would want to promote it for you.

Interaction is key.

I H-A-T-E when people try to market via MySpace... Especially with all of these people that have these bulletin viruses. I've also deleted most bands because of this reason - I hate spam.
