What Page Ranking have your sites got?
I just wanted to know, as a general question what Page Ranking (Pagerank) have your sites got that you own. What's your highest PR site?
I'll start:
At the moment my highest is PR0 with Blogtrepreneur but that's only been up for 3 months (im relatively new to the whole internet).
But using Pagerank Predict, Im predicted a nice PR6 for Blogtrepreneur in the next Page Ranking update.
You next!

My company's website has a Page rank of 3 i believe. The redesign has only been up since April, so I'm happy with that for now.
http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html <--- this is a great tool for firefox users. Install, then get all kinds of information on your google/yahoo searches.

currently pagerank 2, but you can't really trust the toolbar,
google hardly ever changes Page Ranking for the toolbar, however they do change PR with their internal system, so if you start seeing good SERPs when you search for keywords which relate to your website, then you know your website is starting to do well
BTW don't trust thoes traffic predictions things, its like going to a fortune teller and asking them to tell you if you'll get rich in the future. No one can predict what google will do because its more than just the number of backlinks. There are alot of other factors, such as quality of links, relevance, if the linked site is a spam site, if the site being linked is new or old, really old sites gets a boost, really new sites gets a small boost, etc etc
way too many factors
a jump from 0 to 6 is like .. magical, because a page rank 6 site is really hard to get, but then again, good things sometimes happen to good people

well, point being search engine exposure. Depending on what type of website you have, it may or may not matter to you, however for most cases, having a good Page Ranking (as well as good and relevant content and Search Engine Optimization webpage) brings your page up higher than your competitors.
This means that you will be found during organic searches on google and hence saves you money from advertising with google adwords whilst retaining the traffic from google.
Its basically a win win situation for both you and google. You get traffic, they provide good content to the searcher.
Having a page rank 0 website usually means people will not be able to find your website via google organic searches. But if your website is on a topic which is so niche on the internet that only a you and a hand full of other websites have content on, then you may get found through a google search.
Alternatively, if you do not have the time/money/patience to attempt to increase your pagerank, you can pay for google adwords advertising and always appear on the first page of the search results.
I would suggest that people spend an extra bit of time during their design and implementation of the website to incoporate Search Engine Optimization tactics as changing it later on is definitely alot harder and more costly than before the website is made

Oh right, I didn't realise that the toolbars weren't correct. Thats a bummer. Is there any site/program that tells you your real Page Ranking. If you email Google will they let you know?
Also unfortunate about the Page Ranking Predict site. I was really looking forward to a high PR6 pagerank, for my text link ads. Anyway, I have got quite a few links so hopefully that will be at least a PR5.
Thanks for letting me know about the inaccuracies though!

unfortunately, it is actually beneficial for google to keep the Page Ranking a secret, in many different ways. Main point is that they keep the customers (adwords ones) who don't know much about Search Engine Optimization and believes that the only way to come up on the first page is to pay for it, which is completely wrong
As for getting page rank 6, its ofcourse possible that you may get that, during the next Page Ranking update, but i must stress that having a pagerank of 6/10 doesn't just happen, and takes a fair bit of work, and alot of quality inbound link. Also, the difficulty from getting from a lower PR to a high PR grows exponentially as your current PR increases, so alot of websites comes to a sudden stop at around 6 or 7. I mean google.com.au has a page rank of like 8 or something, and this is google themselves.
Btw, keep in mind that having a high pagerank does not mean you will come up on search results pages, it merely means that you have alot of good inbound links. To get top or within the first page of results on google, you will need to optimize your webpage with good and relevant keywords, as well as SPECIFIC keywords. You page must also be relevant to the inbound links you are getting.
All in all, it really comes straight back down to "Does your website deserve to come up on google search results? Does it have good content and a user friendly environment? Will peopel be willing to link to you due to the quality of your content? Was the website built for users or search engines?"
One more thing, page rank means exactly what it means, a rank for a specific page. There are high chances that your internal pages may have a higher page rank than your home page.
I can go on for ages on Search Engine Optimization, but I shouldn't, i face it all day already at work -_-"

Oh right. Thanks for all that info sicnarftea, you obviously know your stuff. Maybe I shouldn't be so obsessed with pagerank, its just that Im so eager to get into Text Link Ads and apparently my links don't show up in Google. Therefore Im waiting for the next Page Ranking update so that my links show up properly and so it would be better for a person to buy a link on my site.
I think you're right. Your page will climb rankings if you offer something valuable. I heard from a few people that Google also sees how long visitors stay at your site after they have found you in searches, as the longer they stay, the more help your site has been - and so the higher your site will climb.
Anyway, I'll continue to focus on content, but does anyone actually know when the next Google Page Ranking update, or any type of update is occurring?
Thanks,
Adnan
