What is considered a success?

hi ,

How should a site be assessed to know whether it is successful as far as search engine rankings are concerned?

What is considered a good ranking?

thanks

Try 'Alexa Ranking'. It depends on the traffic diverted to your website.

I would say try 'Alexa Ranking' as well. However, you have to be careful becuase these values can be incorrect like all other search engines.

So what i would really say would to be considered a success as far as rankings in the search engines are concerned is find out where you rank in all the engines under your keywords. Use a program such as 'WEB CEO' to find out this

There is only one good ranking. The #1 spot. If you do some keyword research before you launch your site and you know some SEO you should be able to get the #1 spot for a certain niche.

Saying that, would you consider sites that aren't ranked #1, 'bad'?

Undoubtedly the #1 spot would be preferable in any case, but if you have 'better' content than the site at #1, the visitor is more likely to stay with your site.

No, I just think you should go for the #1 site. I like to aim for the top.

kritika, is there any reason why you've posted this exact same thing in at least 3 different forums now? Everywhere I go, you are popping up with this question. What gives?

Alexa ranking is skewed in my opinion. Run the Alexa bar and your site will rank much better. Technology sites also rank much better.

Hi,
A successful site is one that ranks high enough for its chosen search
terms that it gets sufficient visitors to achieve the objective that you
had in setting up the site in the first place.

i would say top 5 in search google for the terms you wish people to find you by. Just get as many people as possible to link to you using that term also use <strong> tags to your advantage as well as limiting images for text.
