Can anyone tell me where a good website, good book, or a place to begin to learn about adding search capabilities to my website? I mean, I have a Travel website and I wish to be able to make a database so that people can search the hotels by (example) city, state, or price range, pool, four star or three star... things like that.

Do you know programming? If not this could be a very difficult task for you. I have great book on php and mysql at my office that would eventually teach you how to do something like this, but that wouldn't be until you got about 900 pages into it. You would have to learn the basics of the programming language first.

thanks for the response Creadiv.... I guess I'm going way over my head.... I'm going to the local college today to look for some basic programming classes.... we all have to start somewhere ..

That sounds like a good idea. If you are looking for a good book in the mean time look at PHP and MySQL development third edition by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson.

im pretty sure you could get that created easily by posting a job at
scriptlance.com or elance.com

the programmers there are incredible and can make almost anything at
a fairly inexpensive cost... pretty sure that you can get what you want
faster by posting a job than taking the classes and learning how...
