Hi guys,

A relative of mine who owns a construction company commissioned me to redesign his firm's website. Yes, I admit I used a WYSIWYG editor (obvious in the source code), but also tweaked it using some manual coding (js), and light custom graphics work, and encoded that complementary background music using a multiple bit rate format (wma).

Again, I do not claim to be web designer, just doing a favor (getting compensated though) for a relative.

Its nice, the text is just kind of hard to read and the links dont work.

Again, the font doesn't look good (no bold!). Other than that, I'm truly impressed!

EDIT: P.S. And nobody cares how you built the site, as long as it works and displays Ok in their browser. So don't worry about that!

Thanks guys for your comments! However, something rather strange happened this morning. I called my relative this morning (Robert) and I asked him how he liked the new design, he informed me that he liked the original design better. I could not believe my ears! Hi - A nice improvement... good work. However... a little suggestion; I'd recommend that the links (Contact Us/Portfolio etc...) were not Javascript Pop Up windows. I think it would be best to just link to a page on the site without opening a new one. Just an idea

Thanks guys - I would make the font changes, but he doesn't like the new design, but the old one instead.

New site took a long time to load... links still don't work... people with sensitive eyes like mine find the font blurred and blazing at the same time...

I do like the new site better... It looks more professional and simpler than the old one... and considering your target market, I think the new one is much more suitable to their tastes...

if reading this thread does not work on your relative, give him a long lecture about targeting customers and the concept of marketing...

Are you sure? The largest item on that home page is the jpeg image of the house - and it's only 22KB large.

Same for links - haven't had anyone say they're not working yet...

I went to his office today to resolve his web hosting account - I've done a modification of the original design. I'll post the link later - I think it looks just as good.
