Virgin

Okay so virgin have so many different sections to their company and the domains to match try these in your browser
www.virgin.net
www.virgin.org
www.virgin.info
and many more all pointing to virgin.com
now try www.virginairways.net or www.virginairways.com they still buy the domains even though their company is called virgin atlantic
and all their other sections to their business there are many more.

My point is that i recently accuired www.virginairways.info although its a .info they still own many off them like www.virginholidays.info or www.virginatlantic.info do you think i should contact virgin and ask them if they would like to buy it ?

Feel free to comment

Of course, the worst thing that can happen is they can refuse you. (If their company name was Virgin Airways, then I wouldn't try it, or if they had it trademarked.) But that seems safe,

I think they will have bought all the domain names that they care about already... you could try, though I highly doubt they bother with the thousands of different names that noone is likely to type in.

To be honest when i was looking into this type of thing i thought that their company was called virgin airways not virgin atlantic. So people probably would type it in,and they obviously do buy domains just try the ones suggested and many more

But if someone searches for "Virgin Airways Information", wouldn't a .info catch someones attention?

Thats true but the name is Virgin Atlantic... Im not sure anyone would think of Virgin Airways as being something to lookup... most would just lookup Virgin and go from there, well that is what I would do.

As I said, it could be tried, though Virgin with it's profile would/should have already bought every domain name it would ever want to be in control of. Good luck though! Could be sitting on a goldmine for all we know haha

This is a common misconception made . If you acquire a domain like this and approach them they could take it off you for free for infringing trade marks etc. Many people try this and end up losing money...

You would wind up in court. Contact your registrar and ask to drop it.

chances are you will get a cease and desist if you're trying to monetize it, and they will get some lawyer to call you up and tell you to give them the domain "or else".

I'd rather avoid pain in the arse things like that. However, if you purchased the domain before virgin started their airline, then you can sell it to them, and even that is a maybe.

But as you stated their name is virgin atlantic not virgin airways so there is no copyright on that name. However as some people think its called virgin airways they still bought the domain www.virginairways.com. And why should they have the right to tell people not to buy domains with that name.If the domains available anyone can buy it.
