This is definitely a "little-known" secret. Viral marketing through video is growing in popularity, and it still hasn't reached it potential. It works (see: lonelygirl15, a completely fake series on youtube that i cannot bear to watch) and I've seen traffic on one of my sites jump +40 uniques per day when i added the URL to one pretty lame video that I posted a while ago. I recommend you start with http://video.google.com. You will download a program from them that will allow you to upload your videos. When you use their uploader it will convert the video for you and take care of the compression.

Yeah, I don't think there are any real secrets to getting your video uploaded. Just follow their instructions.
