Hmm, I tend to disagree with that, especially if they mean an "intro" video explaining the company and its services. GoDaddy doesn't offer this. Google doesn't offer this. Amazon doesn't offer this. eBay doesn't offer this. Need I say more?

And then, too, I may be misinterpreting what you mean by video.

I think they mean the ability to have video. And google would have that with their "Google Videos"....I dont think it'll be long before video "help" section on websites take over the standard list of what might be wrong. Profile pictures on places like myspace and facebook could also start having a video option.

The visual medium is a great way to get your message across of what you are selling, promoting, etc as it is an easier way for people to learn if they hate reading text from PC screens.
On the other hand, people dont want to be overwhelmed by a web page that shoves so much at them.
I'm on the fence about this.
I do lean to the famous quote "Less Is More"
A clean and presentable site, with the right amount of text, that gives them the info quickly & distinctively, i feel is the most effective.
Just my opinion,
