Site opinion needed

I'm doing a commercial/fleet vehicle site for the largest dodge dealer in the world (believe it or not...)

They aren't much into fancy stuff, and they're located way out in podunk (again, believe it or not...). They said that all they want is for the site to get people to click on "get a quote" or to fill out a form or call as quickly as possible. They are really great salespeople and just need the customer to get on the phone. They said they want it to be fast loading, simple but efficient.

I've just started today on the layout and wanted some opinions before I go any further.

The site is located at: http://media.ericesquire.com/current/dsmfleet/ - this is just a sample of the contact page. The rest will soon follow but I want to get more opinions before I press forward.

Any info would be great, but please be constructuve, not destructive, i've had a bad week, rofl. Thanks everyone!

Site is not coming up!

Just my $.02. I would try to talk them into more features. How do they justify the cost of a website for one minor feature?

You must not have read my entire post - that is just a sample of the contact page. They are going to have an interactive inventory system that is all database driven. On each of the manufacturers portions (Dodge, GMC, and Chevy) there will be lists of cars available, pictures, and the features that are available. This will all be created using information in a database.

I have never seen a one page contact web site that has links to other pages that don't exist...

Read my entire post also

I guess you didn't read my entire post either. I stated that I could not view the page. Your link did not work.
All I knew was what was in your post, and you said all they wanted was a contact page.

I did not mean to offend you in any way, merely a suggestion. Please accept my apologies.

Brent

I like it

I like the look of it. Very Clean looking. Too many designers think that eye candy makes up for functionality.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Eric.

Sounds like you've got a great opportunity there! Here are a few comments to get your grey matter buzzing.

Generally it looks good. The design is clean and simple and the colours work well. There were a few areas that I think you can improve though...

The logo:
I'm not sure what you were trying to achieve with this, but I find it quite distracting. Are they bubbles, is it decaying? It just doesn't seem to work for me.

Links:
They'd look better in bold so they stand out a little more. Considering you've used normal text for the links, I don't see the point in making them images. If you prefer to leave them that way then make sure to pre-load the roll-over images as it takes a while for them to appear which doesn't help people to notice that they're links.

Contact us header:
The whole page uses a Sans style font, but then here you switch to a Serif font. Doesn't fit well at all.

The form:
There's too much space between the fields. Use a table with a little padding to bring them in nice and tight and it'll come together better.

Badges:
The two badgets at the bottom seem a little out of place and there's a lot of white space on the right. I personally think the badges would look better above the phone number and address. That'd help to balance it out a little, but try it first and see if it looks okay as I haven't had time to put it in PhotoShop and move elements around.

Copyright message:
The font is so small it's become all distorted. Considering where it's located it would probably fit just right if it was the same size as your body font. If you want to make it more discreet then use grey instead of black.

I know that may all sound harsh, but I believe in giving a thorough criticism as it gives you more possibilities. I understand that there may be restrictions that prevent you from changing some things, but I hope there are some things there that can help you.

Onyx,

Heh, you sort of caught me in the middle of updating the site. THe reason that the header of the page is a diff. style text is because the logo used to be the same exact style text. The logos will be sitching back and forth for a few days because they keep sending me different things that they have at their office. There's not much really I can do about that - they are a huge corporation and they want to use stuff that only they approve of. I'm pushing for them to let me make another one...any suggestions? This "commercial" site needs to be more rugged and have some tough-looking appeal to it considering their main customers will be construction workers/other industrial types.

I will look into the links - thanks

The reason the contact form is spaced out is because this is just a test page. The content on this page will change completely, in fact it will not even be a contact page, rather a quote request page. I just had to throw something up there so that it didn't look empty. The real focus here is on the navigation, flow, and feel of the page.

I really appreciate all of your feedback and will take everything you said into serious consideration. Thank you!

Anyone else?
