Selling on Amazon

Ok,

Over a year ago I closed down a used CD retail business. Since then I have been sitting on something like 5000 CDs. Finally, last night I decided to list as much as I could on Amazon.com after failing to sale the entire lot to another business. After listing hundreds of CDs, I've run into lots (and I mean lots) of CDs being listed for pennies. Some as low as 1 cent.

Here's an example. Look at this listing for a Sugar Ray CD: Click Here

I have this CD, but did not list it because how will I make any money at all? How do the people selling theirs make anything? Why even list a CD for only 1 cent? For anyone here selling on Amazon or eBay, maybe you can explain it to me.

Anyhow, after listing a couple hundred CDs, I've sold a small few. I'm thinking that I can continue this and enjoy it. The problem I'm facing right now is where I will get more popular CDs at a cheap enough price to sell them on Amazon when the competition there drives the prices down to pennies.

Does anyone here know how I can find CD stores closing down? I'm thinking that I could find excellent bargains there if I buy out some of their inventory.

I know a guy who is doing it right now. He has a warehouse full of stuff and is doing really well.

If there's 479 used items for sale on amazon there's gonna be a ton of $.01 items.

Cool

lol $0.01 are usually just a price to attract bids from bidders. At least it works that way on Ebay. Ppls will go and look on a $5 CD with 3 bids than the one that doesn't have a bid. To set the price cheaper, you attracts more bids therefore more exposures.

SOme seller puts the start auction price at $0.01 and adds like $20 of shipping and Handling fees to it. they make money from handling.

If they really can sell cds at $0.01, they will be losing a lot of money :P A $0.01 item cost $0.25 to be listed and also there is a final value fee

Good Luck
Nick

I will second what has been said about starting a site selling used Cds at bargain prices. If you can sell them cheap enough you should get a good amount of sales.

as for finding places closing down. I would watch the newspaper clasifieds section. They might post there...but I dont know.
