Hey all,

I just have a small question to ask. I want to sell a website that I have had off the server for a while. Now what I need to know is, is it possible for somebody to connect to my computer and download the files directly or do I have to load it onto my host and then let them connect through ftp.

Yes, its possible to set up and ftp connection directly to your computer, how its exactly done I am not sure of though.

You can make your home computer a host aswell. Use Serv-U and then go to www.dyndns.com and create an easy domain to connect to e.g. fattony.serveftp.com. Once you install ServU it pretty much gives you step by step instructions to setting up your home FTP, then just give the person you want to connect to your comp the domain, a user and a pass.

yeah its safe, just turn on the temp server while he is downloading the files, then once complete turn off ServU and uninstall if you want.

or you could just send the person the script for your site your selling and let them use their own ftp

Can you not zip the files up and email. Do you have gmail? pm me if you want invite. You could put the site on cd and post it.

I suppose i could send the files in email but it would be about 500mb big (its all games for an arcade site)

As well as that though I want people to be able to see the site before they buy it, so I need to host it somewhere and uploading 500mb up onto my host will take ages.

Pain in the arse.

Right what you need to do, is do what Khalid has done on his turnkey site. Except your ognig to have to introduce a payment system before they can download it. Check it out http://www.freeturnkey.net/index.html and you'll see that theres a demo and where you can download i, thats what your going to have to do.

About uploading it onto your host, why do they have to host it with you why not anyone else?

Ok ill explain again.

I want to sell a website which is not currently online. Now the site is over 500mb big because it is an arcade site with 1000 games. I want people to be able to see and navigate the site before they buy it. But i dont want to have to go through the hassle of uploading it onto a host (that would take all day).

I was wondering if there was another way of doing it.

u could send it via AIM...and send screenshots maybe so they know wat it looks like.
