Question about my history on my website

I am soon going to open an e-commerce website and you know where a company puts the history of the company, philosophy, should I put that I am a truck drivers wife or just make it seem sorta like a big corporation? Do customers care if your company dropships or is that something you don't say??

Thanks

What ever you put in there (by the way, I dont think that it is necessary to put anything at all), make sure that is relevant to the buyer.

Say something that will help build trust, or strengthen your business case.

If you do opt for a bit of Spin copy, then make sure that it is something that you can deliver on later on, so, if you like, it becomes a statement of where you would like to be, rather than where you currently are.

Lies can bring a reputation that has taken years to build crashing down, but so can statements that are too honest.

A Zen story about lies:

"A certain wild turkey used to watch as other birds landed on a tree in the middle of a field. The turkey wanted to be on top of that tree so bad that it often dreamt of flying and resting itself proudly atop the tree.

One day, the turkey decided to give it a shot and tried to jump to the lowest branch, so as to climb from branch to branch to the top.

The poor thing looked so pathetic trying to repeatedly reach the branch that a bull approached it and asked what it was trying to do.

After the turkey explained its intentions to the bull, the bull agreed to help. The turkey looked on as the bull simply walked away and ate abundantly for hours.

Just as the turkey had decided to restart its attempts to reach the lowest branch, the bull returned and started shitting around the tree, carefully positioning dungs on top of each other.

Before the dung had a chance to dry, the turkey climbed to the lowest branch using the dung as stepping stones, and then to the top of the tree where it had wanted to be for so long. The turkey puffed itself proudly as it enjoyed the beatiful views.

Just at that moment, a passing hunter could not believe his luck at finding such a plump bird in such an exposed position; placed an arrow in his bow and shot the turkey down.

The moral of the story: Bullshit can take you to the top, but it sure as hell wont keep you there.

Good luck

Sam

I wouldn't say you dropship, as nobody really needs to know (or even cares). But definitely make it clear that you're a one-woman show. Sure, put in the fact that you're a trucker's wife! You need something that will appeal to folks - if you look like another big company, where's the appeal of doing business with you?

This is kind of the same reason I made the user tracker public again on my free hosting site - I want folks to understand we're just starting up, and they can be a part of something new. We're not a huge company, and we're not trying to screw them over.
