Online Job Marketplace
Has anyone got some good information on the online job marketplace. The likes of monster.com in USA, Seek.com in Australia. I'm doing some research into this industry... any information whether it be in the form of an e-book, news articles, blogs, forum posts, your experience, anything... is much appreciated!
Thanks,

Thank you very much, I've been searching long and hard for data, I must not be searching the right places. I'm going to have a further look at Hitwise's statistics for Australia.
Yes I am doing some research into the industry, with the decreasing unemployment rate these services are beginning to become very popular.
Australian data would be great as well, I'm also interested in how these services market themselves, especially initially.
It's kind of like the 'egg and chicken' - which came first. Does a job marketplace website need employers or jobseekers first? Surely there needs to be employers so jobseekers can find a job. But then again, why would an employer post a job when there are no jobseekers?
So obviously, they must launch both marketing campaigns together. I'd be interested to hear how the big job marketplace sites originally launched.
Anyway, thanks very much for the website link, any further information you come across will be again much appreciated.

that's why you offer a free trial to entice the employers ;o)
if you can do it, a free site like monster or totaljobs will take market by storm and upset most job sites that charge the earth for a single listing

Online recruitment sector is over-crowded and it's very hard to make it to the level of big boys such as Monster or Careerbuilder . You have more chance if you decide to start a niche market and concentrate on that section so users will know where to go if they are searching for a specific job
Job advertisers choose those who have the biggest traffic to get what they paid for and as a starter it will take you years to build a user base
I might sound negative, but that's what's happening to me , right now. In my web site there is a resume builder and features nowhere found in any other web site, but for a starter with no marketing budget I have to be patient and DIFFERENT to break into the market
Good luck

rossco, buddy, I'll help you get the secondary research on this space, if that's what you want, but you should know perfectly well how I feel about confirmation bias and founders psyching them selves up with data that tells them what they wanna hear
in other words - bugger secondary research, it means nothing, do your primary
that's right, primary market research, lots of it, everything else does not matter
are we one the same page?

Ok mate cheers,
Yes, definitely, primary research will be conducted I was just wanting to know if there was any existing research and data available - get a better feel of the industry. There's obviously not much, so primary research will need to be in-depth.
Thanks again for your help, I'll now get onto the primary research.

Cheers for your thoughts. Your definitely right, there's no room for anymore 'big boys' in the marketplace. Differentiation is the key.
