I posted a thread last night about a site i have www.owntheworldcup.com and i am now getting concerned, in the past 10 hours my hit counter ( which is www.statcounter.com ) has gone from 12,000 hits to over 31,000 !!!!!!!
19,000 hits in 10 hours ?
I now need help, BIG TIME,
I have affiliation sites on the link page and i am after advice on presenting them on the home page for click through's i beleive the term is ?
Please offer your advice and if you wish maybe i could mention your site in my blog ?

you need to build up links and sell your adspace - sell it through adbrite or do a bit of adsense if your getting this amount of hits, even with only a few people clicking on the ads you'll definatley make some cash

Do this for me:

Take note of the hit counter and then exit the page.
Then re-enter the page and see how much it goes up by.

I know it sounds stupid but Im just curious cos I had a counter that went up by like ten hits every time the page was entered. The reason was that the counter was counting everything that loaded in the page as a hit.

I.E. it would add 1 hit to the counter when the banner was loaded and another when the background was loaded and so on...

I use Firefox at home and IE at work and both show big hits, But when i view the stats on my control panel i am reliably informed by someone who is in the know that the hits are page hits and not individual banner hits etc

Put adsense on it. I make about $1 per 100 hits to one of my websites with it. Seriously - put it in a good place and you could be making alot more than me per day.

How's Adsense work ? i have Adbrite but i think i need to put them on the homepage instaed of the link page

Go to the webpage and note what the stat counter sya then hit refresh and the hit counter goes up by 20.
