New Website - MyDailyWorkouts.com, partners needed.
Hi guys,
I’ve come up with an idea for a new website / online service and am looking for partners to help me take it forward. Here’s a brief summary of the idea which for now I’ve branded MyDailyWorkouts :
Summary
MyDailyWorkouts offers a free service to allow people to manage their health and fitness more effectively. Its website provides free daily workout routines, catering for a variety of different markets and abilities. The routines on each site, branded “Workout’s of the day”, are grouped into a number of stages (for different abilities), with one global routine posted online per day for each stage.
The concept could be tailored to different sectors within the market by creating different versions of the same site. They all will use the same framework and general layout but will be designed in a slightly different way as to appeal to each sector. Separate websites (referred to as “MyDailyWorkouts Network”) will exist for:
• Home Workouts
• Single Males
• Single Females.
• Mum’s
• Over 50’s
The idea came to me when I encountered the CrossFit.com website. CrossFit focuses on highly demanding workouts designed to push the body to its limit. It has been used by elite marine and police units and is therefore way to “hardcore” for the average person looking to stay fit. It launched on February 10th 2001. Since then they have not spent a single penny on advertising, marketing or promotion, yet have achieved over 75,000 regular unique visitors from around the world. This on its own confirms that the concept of the “Workout of the day” can be a success and adhered to by individuals for a consistent period of time.
I have written a full business plan / concept document which goes into massive detail on this site, its features and how I think it could make money. I’ve also built visual wireframe designs which give a good overview of the features in the site.
My Background
I come from an IT background myself, having spent 4 years as a developer. I now work as a Project Manager for a software consultancy in London. I’m still very new to the entrepreneur game and am fully aware that I need to partner with more experienced people to make this idea work, as there’s a lot to it. It would also be great to hear the opinions and views of everyone as to whether they think the idea has any potential.
So if you’re an experienced web entrepreneur and are interested in partnering and helping me take this idea forward it would be great to hear from you.
Thanks for reading people,
Cheers,
Simon Turner

This is a fantastic idea. I'm not sure if I really have the time or the background you'd be looking for in a business partner, but I see this site as having huge potential. I'd love to hear more about your project.

You have an IT background. What is your basis for creating and running a physical health website?

I'm very into my health and fitness and that combined with my IT background inspired this idea. I know this has massive potential but so far every avenue ive turned down has lead to a dead end and thats why i've turned to you guys. I need partner(s) who have expertise that complement mine and really want to make this idea work, as its certainly not an easy one.
This project needs developers, fitness experts and entrepreneurs to make it work. I need someone to come and help take the reigns!
If anyone wishes to offer any thoughts or guidence or wants to find out more, please chat to me on msn on "feederman@hotmail(dot).com"
Cheers

I'm a web developer and I can see what I can offer. I'm currently trying to get my web hosting comapny off the ground, but I could offer some XHTML/CSS coding for you and some PHP/MySQL. I have experience running forum software (IPB and vBulletin) as well as Linux server administration. I don't have a degree in the things, so you probably don't want me like all the other degree nazis out there, but I do have skills if you're interested.

There are always two sides to a web-based startup. Your strength is is IT, which is half of the equation. Therefore, you need to be looking for a partner who can fill the void of your weakness, which is the business side of it. You want to focus on someone who has experience in business development, including product development, sales, marketing, etc. Find a good match for yourself.
