New Teen Forum: Need Input

Okay... so I decided to start something that I tried to begin when I got started in business for the very first time.

Back when business was trash to me, the first thing that opened my mind up was starting a teen forum. 4 years later, I went back to try and re-live that goal and see if I can close the very first chapter.

So I started working on a phpBB forum... you can find the website at http://www.dacenter101.com --- even though I have knowledge of the phpBB system VERY WELL, I am not good with actually putting up forums and the necessities of running a good forum.

I need everyone's input, visit the site and browse around it, let me know what you think. So far I've added these addon's to the phpBB:

1. Anti-Spam Mod (to control any spam.)
2. User Reputation Addon
3. SEO Friendly URL's
4. Advanced Subforums
5. Username Check (Utilizing AJAX Technology)
6. 2-3 Mods for Admin Usage to Run the Forum

I will be the first to tell you, I don't like the way I have the forums categorized or made. So if anyone could help me out with being able to categorize the forums and even share with me what many teens talk about now-a-days, I'd appreciate it. I plan to have it fully ready to go in about a week from now possibly.

At the same time, once its up and going and there is some interest in it, I'll continue adding more addons and start on the custom theme for the site. If this doesn't work (the whole teen forum thing) then I will go back to the drawing board and work up another idea.

Forums are all personal opinion. NASIOC, which is for subaru owners is really a good forum because it feels like a community. Give them a reason to come back. Give them more than a glorified AIM system and they'll return. It always works that way.

As for the topics.. Movies, Music, Celebrities. Anything you see in the US weeklys, or in the Rolling Stones.

^^ Thanks, I am trying to review the categories over thoroughly because I don't think it looks good right now. It needs to be better organized but I don't know where to start at.

The problem with teens is that most of them want to talk about immoral/illegal activities (drink, drugs, sex, etc.). That's most of what goes on in their hormone-enraged minds and bodies.

Very hard to find 'clean' things they want to discuss that will keep you away from any potential liability issues and frivolous lawsuits.

^^ Thats why when it comes to keeping things legal, that is the main priority. The forums will be basically a teen outpost that will keep teens active and try and get their minds set on the right path.

In short, my mission: Give teens a site that they can use and learn some things, as well as seek advice when they need it. All this while keeping things in line (like allowing them "freedom" to talk about whatever topics, but keep them within' the boundaries.)

EDIT: Can I get recommendations on some sites to go check out that has maybe a database (if not a small list) of spam words. I am trying to configure the anti-spam addon but need some of the most common words used in these SPAM posts a majority of the time.

When you niche you will also be able to target your advertisements more specifically as well - you will make more money.

I'm kind of tired the idea already... so I am deciding to sell it. The forums are already modified (phpBB modded) --- includes 1 year of hosting on my hosting account and the domain is included as well.

TEEN FORUM FOR SALE: $50 BIN
__________________________________________________ __________

Overview:

I am selling my teen forums that I designed, comes with 1 year of free hosting, domain and phpBB forum that is already modded. Has a section for YOUR AdSense banner at the top. Great beginner's site. Setup and ready to go as if right out of the box (in short, sort of a turnkey.)

Traffic Stats:

As much as I would like to do the site, throughout this topic many have seen that the forum thing aint for me because it needs some traffic. I've decided to take the forum and sell it instead. At a low BIN, because there is no traffic yet and no members.

Interested?

PM me ASAP, I am willing to hear offers, even if its $30 --- I may accept your bid. A good investment for something that could have a EXCELLENT R.O.I.

-- Dustin

P.S. Bidding ends August 10, 2007 at 11:59pm EST
