New Site Design - Critique?

Hey everyone. Yesterday I got this wild hair up my butt to revamp my website. I'd been using Joomla CMS and I have NO idea why but I decided to recode the site in html. Given that I haven't really done that since around 98 thanks to all the lovely portal/cms/e-commerce packages that have been out there it was a fun challenge for me.

Right now it's just a front page on my test server, but I'm looking for opinions on what I've done so far...Keep in mind I'm not a graphics designer/coder so don't be too harsh. lol

Thanks,

-Chris

Definitly a lot going on, But I think thats good on that type of website. The only suggestion I have is that you may want to consider doing something with the backround. I'm not a fan of the white.

Yeah, it is pretty busy. The previous version was in Joomla and it had a very clean professional template....a little too clean. So yeah, this is the polar opposite. I may have gone too far but like you said, it sorta works given the context. Duly noted about the background.I always use colored backgrounds. I was kind of at a loss on this one...already have so much black and gray going on. And it's so busy I was worried a carbon fiber or other texture might really make it an eyesore. I am open to suggestions though. Thanks for the feedback!

Wow alot going on, but i think it works . I would suggest though that the interviews, tech and staff parts were moved to the top as i thought it was only a one page website when i first came to it.

Keep it real lol...

Nice job, though.

You could probably figure out a good harmonizing background color with http://www.easyrgb.com/harmonies.php

Haha...yeah. I remember back in late 95 when I started coding html and all the changes that were so exciting. Wow, frames? Cool! Whoa...you can animate a gif! I busied myself learning all the new tricks and I thought I was pretty good. Then came javascript, dhtml along with css and all the other lovely script languages. I gave up I was lost. I honestly didn't think I'd ever sit down and try to code anything again. lol Even with this site I think I have a lot of unnecessary table coding so the source is kinda ugly.

Thanks for the kind words and the link. I'll have to poke around on there a bit since it doesn't look overly dummy friendly.

Just insert the RGB variables of the color you are trying to harmonize with and it will pop out about 6 different colors you can pick from - and they all match well.
