Marketing a Website launch

Hello,

Even though my site www.BidSpire.com is still in development i am thinking of ways i will market it when the site is done. It will be a reverse auction a type of site that already has a few sites up but no main market leader imho so i think i have a good chance of succeeding.

Currently im thinking:

Press Release: I can get one written for about $25 along with free distribution but im also wanting to do a smallish paid distribution.

Adwords: Im not sure if theres still some of those free $50 adwords vouchers out there but if there is i plan on using some.

MySpace: I have a friend who spends all day on this thing heh, im sure hell advertise the site for me

Banner Advertising: Im sure i can find a site that has users who would be interested in this type of a site, so ill hopefully find some cheap banner advertising for more exposure.

Articles: Write an article of sorts and put it on as many article sites as possible.

Any other ideas? Id appreciate any help.

Ebay: Sell Free listings, Auction Space, advertisments on Ebay. Be creative and place a listing for different categories and pull them back to your site.

SEO: Obviously

Joint Ventures: Find someone who is in Ebay, or Auction Lists and talk to them and figure some type of business strategy you can get his subscribers to your site.

Find emails of powersellers on ebay, especially ones with their own websites. Email them, convince them to use your auction site. tlak about saturation in ebay, the rising fees, etc

I've found that forums are generally good if they're big, but it will come in a spike. IE the first time you talk about it on a forum thats when you'll get most of the visitors from that forum since its usually the same people that post.

Myspace can work, I tried the demo of www.badderadder.com and it works well, still have to try www.adderrobot.com (which is cheaper) to add friends for you. In your case might be illiegal if you're generating sales off of it...not sure. See my post about 'Myspace Advertising' in the internet forum.

reverse auction means that instead of you posting what you are selling and have buyers bid on it, you post what you want to buy and selelrs bid on it.

are you qitting me? this is a peace of cake to promote your site! just be sneaky and find ways to promote yourself on sites who do linear auctions (yes, i just made that up. i'm cool like that) since reverse auctions are so few.

for example, ask the sellers on your site to put a link on their ebay account back to your site or ask them to create one and offer a list of their products as a csv file that can be used on the ebay bulk uploader (that thing keeps changing its name through out the years).

you can do this on amazon, nextag, pricegraber, etc. your sellers and buyers incur the marketing costs because they would promote themselves. also, make sure you start off free. i am serious, FREE. charge after you have good traffic and lots of memebers. If you need more tips/tricks PM me....oh, and don't forget to add an affilitate program once you start charging for your service.

I LOVE YOUR IDEA!
