Just a question YE

In websites where are the customers more likely to look? Would it be around the edge of a webpage or in the middle etc?

It depends on the way you design the site, its where ever you put the most action (contrasting colors, a lot of text, images, etc.)

It's almost everything that has to do with your design. If your business requires the site to look formal or it's ok that your site looks fancy and you play with colors.

He isn't talking about how to get more customers, but where the customers look. So the style of the design is irrelevant.

this is answered by looking at heat maps

get a heat map for your site at http://crazyegg.com/

or get some more tools at http://clickdensity.com and http://www.clicktale.com/

if you're interested in website eye tracking analysis, see this study from Cornell university

The study gives comprehensive, graphical answers to your question

Your visitors' eyes will go where you lead them. If you want them to look in the middle, put brighter colors, graphics, larger text, etc in the middle. Make sure that your design is leading them from one step to the next until they purchase. Make it easy for them to see what your product is, why they need it, and how they can get it.
