login from paypal.com site and see if you get any messages, that's the best and quickest way to check for sure.

That does seem odd, but then again, PayPal is notorious for for irregular procedure.

However, the link seems to be valid including the "https".

So it's probably fine.

yes it is a scam Paypal will NEVER send you an email starting w/ Dear Paypal user. They ALWAYS address it to your user name. It says this in the agreement & they also have it a recorded message saying this when you are on hold with them.

if reporting to paypal those email would have worked, you would see on the front page paypal letting their users know that "john doe" was arrested on whatever date for phishing emails that he sent to paypal users.

OK, so what kind of crap is this?? Pay pal sends me a response back saying that there nothing they can do about it because "It appears they were trying to be a different company other than pay pal." That makes no sense!! It's like they just send out a general email saying that they are not responsible for stuff like that. It makes me question how safe it is now since they won't even personally LOOK at the email and the info before sending some crap general email. Man people piss me off.

So, yeah I replied to that email (fromt he faker) and I told him/her that they were a rat b@stard and I hope they rot in hell for trying to steal other peoples accound info. Among other choice words. (I hope that didn't offend anyone.... haha I just had to show my resentment for people who try to steal other's hard working money!)
