You can't do it unless you own the video.

What can happen? Well you can be prosecuted... taken to court, fined a huge sum of money.

It's called copyright infringement and you can be held liable for damages that the copyright owner suffers as a result, such as lost sales or damaged reputation. Additionally, any profits that you are able to gain (even in increased advertising revenue based on increased traffic to your site) would have to be paid to the copyright owner. Might be a good idea to come up with your OWN video or marketing.

Go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200

People use the term "illegal" far too much on forums as most are not criminal activity but breach of contract etc.

Not sure if you are talking about adding a video that you have created that contains your url or taking other peoples content and adding your link to it without their consent.

The first depends on youtube's terms and conditions but would be a breach of contract if they prevent you from doing this

The second would be a breach of copyright from the owner of the video and most likely also a breach of contract with YT

In both cases you leave yourself open to being sued for damages but it would almost certainly be civil cases rather than criminal (subject to which country you are in) and so jail would only come into play if you continously failed to pay the damages awarded.
