Is alexsa.com accurate?
Hi,
I have checked my website http://www.ztmax.com stats on alexsa.com and the numbers just don’t make any sense, don’t get me wrong the numbers are good but I don’t understand how they come up with them.

yeh, most of the time, alexa doesn't make sense, they only take into account people with the alexa toolbar installed or with an alexa cookie on their computer.
so it can be really inaccurate, but then again, they don't guarantee that they are correct

If you're ranked in the top 100,000, Alexa is very accurate.

You have to download it off their site. Alexa isn't useless, its just very webmaster biased. If you get the toolbar and start surfing your own site, you can usually get under 150k in a few weeks. Its more useful in comparing webmaster sites... ie sitepoint and digitial point, etc.

I think Alexa notices trends in your site and ranks it accordingly for their system ( ie. Alexa rank ). When my site did better it was represented with my Alexa ranking. I would not try to use it for every day stats though. I tend to like the information and free updates from URLTrends.com. This coupled with google analytics gives me plenty of information.
