I need marketing tips

Some of you know me and some of you don’t, I am the owner of this website http://www.ztmax.com
The site has been online for 45 days and I am not happy from the currant web traffic to it. About 90% comes from my google ads and it accounts for 0% of the sales yes that’s right 0% I need some good advice on how to increase quality traffic to my site. Here is what I have done so far:

1. I submitted my web site to all relevant directories including Yahoo.com and business.com (dmoz.com is down for a while) about 100 and some directories
2. I have 11 sponsored links in the top leading gadget blogs
3. Sent out a press release
4. My site is mentioned in over 100 different blogs

What else can I do to increase traffic to my site?

Thanks Ron

well....there's a standard answer to that question

1) you gotta build an email marketing list

2) get aweber.com and implement a newsletter signup hover-over form on your site

3) change your ads to say "signup to newsletter and win gadget zyx"

4) offer people who signup on your newsletter to forward the subscription form to their friends so they can be in the running to win something

basically, you gotta remember to presell prospects. people do not buy electronics on impulse. it takes 3-4 times for somebody to visit your site before they buy from you.

the point: there's nothing wrong with how you're spending your ad dollars, but you gotta implement the newsletter, prize draw, and referal system to get more value from the money you're spending

I agree with Akula. Once you get some traffic to your website it is in your best interests to capture their Email address etc. This way, your clicks aren't wasted and you have the opportunity to market to them again.

It is a fact that people will need to trust you before making a purchase and for the smaller Internet Marketer it is even more important. It has been said that it takes up to 7 Emails before someone will purchase from you so you can see why you are getting very little success just using PPC.

I went down this exact same route and NEVER found any success. It was only when I put a system in place that I started realising some success.

Have you tried writing some of your own articles. When you publish these to some of the better article directories you will not only build a reputation but also get high ranking one way links back to your site. People will follow these links if they find your article interesting enough!

I think all the things youve done show that you should receive some targetted traffic, and have generated many inbound links to help SEO. I would focus more on the site, how you portray the products, newsletter, and like was mentioned; content!

I read in a report that the average buyer looks at a product online 7 times before they buy (whether its on ebay, amazon or a small trader) so you are definitely right.

I wouldn't give up just yet - keep plugging away and you will get there. Good luck.

People on click-thru's are often only mildly interested in seeing your site; once they see prices for products they may or may not be interested in (particularly if they don't believe the prices are very good) they will not stay.

Instead of having the first thing they see be products and prices, use your front page to introduce yourself, or like vishenda said, an article for both spiders to graze on and for site-seers to not feel overwhelmed.

After you run it like this for a month, re-analyze your webstats. How many of these people are moving past the front page now vs when it was products displayed on the homepage? Has revenue gone up at all?
When you first put a website up, you have to play around for awhile to find out what your customers/click-thrus are expecting when they come to your site, and cater to them.

Just a couple of suggestions:

I would add a blog into the site like woot.com does, your sites look a bit similar. It has worked extremely well for them over the past couple of years and search engines love it for organic results.

The color scheme threw me off a little bit (no disrespect). I would seriously consider changing it to softer tones or colors.

In the faq, there was a question: "how dose this work?" - should be does. That also threw me off because hey, why would I buy something from a company who can't spell correctly? Even if it is one little error, that sort of thing matters.

The "buy now" button does not stick out nearly enough IMO to seal the deal.

I guess where you take it from here really depends on your budget. For your site, PPC may not be the way to go.

You might want to SEO your site. First, you can add your site to more directories so that you have more backlinks. Here is a list of directories: http://www.marketingchat.org/web-directories.html . Remember to add your keywords in your anchor text.

Beside all of the above... Get business card, flyers, go face to face and spread your words mouth to mouth. Actively promoting in real life instead of only on internet is a plus. Also make a video about your website and posted on youtube.com

Thank you all for your great advice, I am planning to implement some of them very soon on the site. I have also discovered that the site comes up in the first page in google if you search for the terms “new gadgets” “cool gadgets” and “buy gadgets” I was so exited to see it on the first search page that I almost spilled my coffee.
