help increasing domain name value

A few months back I purchased a number of okish two word bluray .com domain names inc. blurayadvisor.com, bluraylist.com and totalbluray.com. I also have a few others inc bluraymovies.org.

I initially registered them with the simple plan of parking them until someone made me an offer, once bluray and HD DVDs had hit the market towards the end of the year.

Since then I have learned quite a bit about SEO techniques and google adsense etc and am starting to think that there may be quite a bit more money to be made from the domains if I can get them listed well in the search engines before any other bluray e-commerce sites come online. therefore gaining advertising revenue and increasing the domain name value substantially.

I'm just wondering if you guys think it would be worth while investing my time in adding content to the domain names or not.

If yes, what do you think I should do in terms of content to add the most value.

Are there any useful, free resources to help me go about such a task more efficiently.

thanks for any advice.

Be quick about it, since I don't think bluray or HD-DVD will survive very long. There's been many rumours that the battle between them will simply destroy both of them, plus they are both excessively expensive and not terribly needed, and also another format is supposed to be better than both of them.

Yeh to be honest, domains are not like wine, they don't increase in value over-time for the sole reason that they do not change or evolve. Sell as soon as you can find a buyer.

surely the value of a bluray domain name will be higher in say 6mnths time when bluray has been released than it will be now when bluray is not yet readily available.

Never promote a .org unless it's an organization, and even then I wouldn't promote it. I'd go to .com first even for an organization. It's hard enough promoting a website and retaining visitors to then mix it up with .org. Plus you never know what the owner of the .com has planned.

I agree but all i'm interested in is the value of the name in terms of traffic and the potential for another individual to be interested in purchasing it for their own needs.

I would never personally launch www.bluraymovies.org as my own web business but that doesn't mean others won't or that people wont type it in when searching for bluray sites in the future.

Yes it might be worth more in 6 months but if you offload now then you have a high chance of selling it, becuase people might start getting ready to buy the domain names and if they try the ones you have taken they will just do what everyone else does look for another one, and then in 6 months there will be possibly alot out and your domain names could be hard to shift.

No, you shouldn't. Unless you're professionally managing a large (50,000+ domains) portfolio, you're not gonna make any more money than you would by taking your cash to the slot machines. It'd be quicker and you'd know your odds.

If the situation was different and I had information to the contrary (i.e. people do make money managing 2-100 domains) I would tell you the opposite. But I don't have this information because it probably doesn't exist.

Also, there is a chance I might be wrong so you should go speak to Dr. Paul Kedrosky. He has covered the domains issue a lot of times on his blog. As far as I know, he actively trades domains and, he has consulted with vcs who want to invest in this business.

He would know much more about these things than I do.

Here are some of my bookmarks on the subject: http://del.icio.us/hotblogger/domains . You will find the answers you are looking for by reading those.
