My eBay store, Pete's Hats, has been up for almost a year now. We're doing ok, but it could always be better.

I am an eBay Powerseller, selling digital delivery items. You can see in my signature a product I sell very well on eBay, you can resell it too!

Exactly. The sheer amount of sellers who have stepped onto the bandwagon of being an eBay seller now, means great prices for buyers, though a tough market to crack for sellers, specially new or small ones.

To be a decent sized seller on eBay you will need to get your products dropshipped or wholesale most of the time. Dropshipper's prices are rarely cheaper than eBay prices to start out with, and wholesale does not even have that high a profit margin any more.

A lot of sellers nowdays on eBay (the big ones who give good prices) actually use eBay to get traffic to their own website by advertising it alongside their product in the auction, and making little if any profit off their eBay sales.

Edit: On the other hand, this should not make you overlook eBay as a place to make some money, as it is! If you are manufacturing the items for sale yourself or you have found a product that makes you one of the main suppliers in the niche/market then it could generate great profits for yourself, just like in offline business. Over half a million people make their entire income off of eBay.

I agree, competition is way too tough in ebay.

It all depends on what you are trying to sell.

If you're selling a niche product, the market can and will find you.

Agreed, there is alot of competition on eBay but you can find your own niche and make money. You don't have to compete with the big sellers on main stream products because you just won't win.
