Have a site, lots of visitors... now what?

So, I have a site that has a great following, as well as a steady returning visitors statistic. I've placed one block of google adsense on the site, which is averaging about a dollar a day, but I really feel like there is a better way to maximize profits from this site (or at the very least, cover overhead costs!). Any suggestions?

Thanks!

[Edit] I would like to point out that I want to keep the general layout of the site, and I certainly don't want to overwhelm visitors with ads. I want, at most two ad blocks on the page, and those should work within the context of the site's current layout.

Have you thought about apparel, maybe through Cafepress.com? That seems like a logical next step to me, and it would offer more connection than generic ads. Just a thought...

I actually had thought about cafepress, I'm glad you also seem to agree. As the site is relatively new (went live 8 days ago) I'm trying to build a bit of a lexicon of blog material on the site that might translate better in to apparel. I also don't want to scare people away too early by looking like it's a site for profit (even if it is ).

Thanks!
