Tool Bar page rank doesn't update as often as page rank. The toolbar server is updated every 3 -4 months where as page rank is updated nearly every month or so.

Yes, PR update internally for google happens often, however the toolbar update is usually every quarter (give or take). Though there is no need to stress on PR, more often than not PR is not the "main" factor of ranking.

Its an ego boost for the most part
