Exclamation Google and Yahoo to Merge?

A Yahoo investor, who declined to be identified but holds about 1 percent of the company's stock, said Yahoo's management recently spoke to shareholders, including his firm, about the potential of a possible tie-up with Google in which Yahoo would rely on Google's Web search services instead of its own.

Wow...Google and Yahoo! It could actually happen.

It will never happen... this has been talked about for 3 years now. The Yahoo board will never tie their search to Google... It would make Yahoo completly non-competitive in 5 years. There would be nothing left of their core business in that time. That investor is living in la la land....

Next?

Yeah, Yahoo is just taking advantage of the little boom they got from Microsoft offer.

I have to wonder if they'll even let the two merge if they tried. Isn't there some kind of law against monopolies? Not that Yahoo and Google are the only search engines around, but between them they power a significant portion.

Interesting thought though.

I think back to how it took about a year for the congress and SEC to debate about the Sirius and XLM merger...it would probably be 3 times that for a Yahoo/Google soap opera.

Thanks Dale

Oh, really? Read this.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. If Google wants it to happen, and Yahoo wants it to happen... it's going to happen!

IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN... Dale.. if it does while we are both still members of this forum I will send you $100... print this out.. save a screen shot.... this will NEVER happen... You would have to replace the entire Yahoo Board to get this to happen... Now Google may BUY Yahoo... but that would be a totally different deal...

Roger, I don't need your $100, so you can keep that. I'm also not going to continue going back and forth with you on this issue.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Since google has taken over its industry, won't be surprised what happens...they have put a stamp on what they do and become an industry leader. I've been waiting to see what happens next nebecause I assume something will..don't know when or what...
