Google Adwords-When do you cut off your campaign?

Hi all,

I'm not really asking this question in terms of dollars, because obviously everyone's budget is different.

But in terms of clicks, at what number of clicks do you stop your campaign and put it out of its misery? Right now I've got a campaign with 51 clicks, but no sales. Sad Would you stop this campaign at this point? Thanks for the advice.

When I have a new idea, I usually wait until at least 100 clicks before pulling the plug on adwords.

as an aside:
I've had many bad experiences with adwords and it will be a long time before I try PPC or PPM again. I've had better success with paying for time.

It really depends on what sort of budget you run.

I used to own a niche directory site and spent about $25 on adwords per month as a hobbyist with mixed results. Now, for my ecommerce site I've budgeted in roughly $100 per month on PPC alone and it holds up rather well. I'm not exactly sure what the Google TOS is like so I'll be very vague with my stats but - over the past seven days I've had several hundred clicks, averaging under 15 cents each with a little over 1% conversion rate. This means I had 2 direct sales, which paid for all the clicks in net and then some... but here's the kicker:

On average, a user will visit your web site 7 times before making a purchase.

That means, with each click I draw very targetted traffic who are almost always potential buyers. Their sale may not be instant, but a few days later or even months - which is impossible to track through adwords. PPC can be an amazing tool if used correctly, but you have to watch it like a hawk.

Basically, my Adwords pays for itself on a 133% ROI but it also pays in futures as It's bringing in NEW, targetted traffic every day who will potentially become customers down the road.

ADDED: Jumping back onto this thread after checking my updated stats for today. One click, at the near minimum cost - brought in a $50 gross, $20 profit sale. Not only that, the customer left a very nice comment in their order receipt

pay per impression is cheaper and better I think than the pay per click

Why don't you try site target instead of ppc, and this is also using google adwords. Like pay for impressions instead of pay for click. I still wonder what methods are better. But for me per impression is easier to manage and target. For example this test1-site is per impression conversion better than the other test2-site, then I'll kill test2-site and use test1-site, and go on finding the next holy grail site.
