It sounds like you let their order form trick you. By default, it tries to register your name for two years. Also, there are several other options it automatically checks from time to time - if you're not careful, it can end up costing a bundle.

Unfortunately, you didn't do your due diligence, before paying your money. I urge everyone to read this.

I would give Godaddy support a call. They should be able to walk you through everything right over the phone

And if you don't call them, they'll call you. They do that with all new clients (one of the few registrars/hosting companies to do that, actually).

I have had no problem with GoDaddy's customer support either. They were able to take an auto renewal fee off my account without a problem. I would urge you to call and ask them why it cost $18 and if you aren't happy ask them to take any additional costs off.

Would also ask them to walk you through the product too

Better not try asking for their support on something technical!

You want to edit your page? You probably just parked your site with them. I know you didn't sign up for a hosting services, because it would have cost a lot more. Basically you pay to register and park it, keeping other from taking your domain, then you have to sign up for host services, you know, bandwidth and storage spage and FTP servers and the like. You don't have to host on godaddy, you can host with whomever you want. Check out http://www.ipowerweb.com/ for good prices on hosting.
