Has anyone used their services? If so, how good are they?

I use them to buy domains,

I have about 10 with them.

They are awesome. I would highly recommend them.

I've also bought domains from GoDaddy. No complaints at all. I'd recommend them.

Let me tell you about go daddy there crooks. i had a domain registered through network solutions and somehow go daddy liked the name so much before my registration was out the ripped it from me and turned arround and resold it to someone else. i filed a complaint against them but didnt do much good. and go daddy didnt respond to any of my emails. i have also heard of that hapening to someone else. it usually happens to registered owners of domain names that arent using it.

I heard some stuff a while back about how they were sending people notifications when their domains were about to expire, even though the domain wasn't taken out through them. Essentially it would trick people into renewing with them instead of their original provider. Pretty underhand way to do things if you ask me!

Hmm I tried registering an account - the weird thing is godaddy doesn't let me use domain names with less than 3 letters. Is there a reason for this? I know some domains have less than 3 letters, so it cant be a technical error.

Which country code are you trying to register for? .com domain allow two letters - although they're *all* taken - but other TLD domains have a minimum of three, such as .co.uk The RFC for DNS actually states that it should be three, so not sure how .com ended up with two letter domain.

And it wouldn't surprise me if all of the three letter .com domains had been taken as well!

Yep, I'm trying to do .com. Oddly enough, Register.com allows me to register 2-letter domain names. Maybe its just GoDaddy, or I might've selected a wrong option.

Does this mean www.a.com can't be a registered domain?

This should help...
http://www.site-registrations.co.uk/help.html

You could look at the RFC for domain names, but you'd be asleep within a couple pages - it's heavy reading!

Domains can be almost any size. However you have to register one that is unique, just like registering a business license. A.com is most certainly taken my friend, hate to disappoint you . All 1 - 3 letter domain names are taken, trust me. Most 4-5 are too but I like to be optimistic. It's probably just taken, thats all.
