Drop Shiping

A lot of companies will not drop ship to a new company. What you have to do is contact the dealers you want to do drop shipping with directly, and then go from there. Drop Shipping is a long process and not worth it most of the time. It takes a lot of trust because if the product takes to long to get shipped, then your company looks bad. I have done it before. It is just a added process to your company. But it is also good for your company because then people can see your company and know what you carry. Sounds like a really good idea. Keep your head up. I am not trying to tell you it is not a good idea to drop ship, I am just saying be careful who you go with.

drop shipping

Two company's that I use for drop shipping is Mongoose ATB, and Hyline ATB (www.mongooseatb.com www.hyline.com) They are two companies that do that. I use drop shipping with a lot of companies for my biz. but I had to make a friendship with them. What I mean by that is, they had to get to know me, and I had to get to know them. Like I said before a lot of companies will not drop ship. To much work for them. Some companies when I first started to drop ship with them, they would charge me $15.00 to $29.00 extra just to drop ship. Now since they know me, and they see that I am a faithful company, they drooped the fee. See you can not legally charge the customer the fee, so I had to pay it out of my pocket whenever a customer bought something. Building friendships with companies is always a way to go first. Show them that you are a faithful company, and that you will make them money by letting you drop ship their products.

Owning a Extreme Sport Company is very expensive, because like one surf board costs us $210.00 and up, and we carry about 50 at a time. So see it can be expensive, but like I said I built a friendship with the companies, and they just send me the products for FREE, and when I make a sale, out software automatically takes out the money for the retail price, and keeps our half in the account, and when it is the end of our pay period, I send a invoice to the company telling them how much I sold of their product, and they hit our biz. account for their half. Owning a company is hard work, and very expensive. But get to know your companies you will work with before, so you don't get ripped off yourself.

I teach a class on biz. so if anyone has any questions for me, email me at jr@mye5.com and I will be happy to help you with some advice.

After all the horror stories and price markups I've read about I'm leaning away from drop shipping. I would feel better shipping myself.

The dropshipper i am going to use now looks very good. Its actually just a distrubutor out of california that just decided to dropshipping. They only charge .50 per order dropshipped, and they have very competitive prices. On top of that, i will be basically the only online store using them so far. That might change in the future because she just got up and running on the interent. But im glad to be one of the first on board. I have to drop ship. I will be carrying over 4k products. I would need a warehouse for all that inventory, and some deep pockets

drop shipping

Onyx:
Drop shipping is when a dealer (Most likely you) sells products from another company but does not carry the merchandise.
Take my company for example, On my website I sell Mongoose mountain boards. Now I don't carry any of the Mongoose Mountain Boards in my store. So when a customer orders a Mountain Board from my company, I send off a email to my sales rep at mongoose and they ship out the order and then charge my bank account the whole sale price. So if I sell a product on my site for $410.00 mongoose would take out $205.00 plus shipping and handling. Leaving me with $205.00 of profits in my bank account. The easy way to put it is, you are selling idem for another company, but making a profit from it. It is a good idea to start off this way because you never have to carry inventory, so you don't have to pay anything until you make a sale.

But keep in mind not a lot of companies will do this for start ups, but some will for a fee.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. That's kinda what I thought from readin between the lines, but it's just not a term I'm familiar with.

Sounds like an ideal opportunity for those starting out though!

Truth about Drop Shipping and making money on the internet

Hello,

I've noticed alot of people want to drop ship, but they all want to sell on ebay. Honestly, we

need an alternative to ebay for sure. Especially if you are a drop shipper. I personally

encourage people to drop ship products but sell it through classifieds as profits margins are way

higher (Really High!). Today on ebay they want the cheapest price?! Like dirt cheap! Honestly

ebay users are cheap! no offence but they really are. They do not want things at a reasonable

price but pennies on the dollar. Drop shipping is awesome, only if you drop ship where you live.

Thats being completely realistic. Drop shipping at ebay is like everybody selling the same

products at a giant flea market. Someone selling for two dollars less or two dollars more.

Another thing people need to KICK OUT of their minds is that drop shipping is an easy money of

'get rich quick' thing. It takes time like every business, and like every business, once done

properly, you will be successful.

People who want to make a part time income can still drop ship on ebay, but if you are looking to

make a living off of drop shipping either do both or concentrate more on 'offline' sales such as

classifieds, mail order, or if you have your own retail store. The profit margins are amazing

when it comes to 'offline sales' because alot of people (You'll be surprised) do not know

anything about 'online shopping'. Especially people who actually have the money to buy your

products, like average families and so on.

Partimers: (Side income, students, 'bored' moms)
Can Drop ship on ebay and other auctions such as livebay.com because its completely free for US!

Full Timers: (People who want a drop shipping business).
Need to drop ship offline for real profit margins.

Stick to flea markets, classifieds and mail order if you are looking to have success with drop

shipping and do want it be your full time income. Drop ship stuff to your local communities at a

reasonable price than what they are use to.

You'll not only get a good feeling about youself since your prices are better than retail, but

you will actually make some good money.

And remember, nothing is hard once you know how to do it.

I totally understand the term of dropshipping. But what if i change the method a little.

What i do is when a customer place order online, i call up supplier to check for stock. When it is ready i will drive down to the supplier and pay cash to buy the goods. (of course we would have already agreed on business terms and would be payinng lesser than retail price). then only will i send out the goods to my online customers.

The main problem is that the supplier do not want to go with credit terms and i also do not want to place a deposit with them so that they could deduct any amount for me buying the goods from them through the phone.

what do you think could solve this problem?

Wow this is a old thread. Many people do what you describe, but in a little different way. For example say company A caries 12 manufactuers but they like say 20 random products but dont want to buy tons of the product to make the minumum volume purchase. If they are just close to the distributor and have a relationship with them they just put whatever random product that the distributor carries on thier website and if they sell it they just go to the distributor and buy it and ship it out of thier warehouse. One of my comptetiers do that i was told because they are literally blocks from one of the biggest pet supply distributors on the east coast. As for your credit issue.... this came up with me awhile back and i just dropped the relationship and moved on. Why give them a bunc of your operating capital at the beggining of the month. T
