Domain name help!

I need help with how to use a domain name on different hosting than to my web hosting; a step-by-step guide would be good!

Thanks, Chris

I tend to try and go with something that sticks in peoples mind, and is like a play on words.

I believe the question refers to how to set-up one's web site when the domain is registered by one provider (ex: godaddy) and the hosting is provided by another company (ex: 1and1).

You would have to do a DNS redirect I believe, but I do not have the specifics on how to do that exactly.

simply log in to the account with whomever the domain was originally registered, be it goDaddy.com or NetworkSolutions.com and change the DNS settings to point to the new hosts DNS servers.

If you were not the one that registered the domain name, you do not have authority to change these settings, if you dont remember your account information you are going to need to request it and it will be sent to whoever is the Technical contact that comes up on a WHOIS search.
