Smile Future is INTERNET....

I've been a professional Developer for close to 9 yrs, and based on my experience I would say, DONOT THINK of anything in long-term. Software/technology are short-lived, so set a goal for yourself for the next 3-5 years. My recommendations for you, if you are focused on the INTERNET,

(1) Open-source technology - people need softwares that are easy to install (FREE), configure and develop applications on them. So, go for Php/My SQL, Ruby on Rails, and other such variations. Dont forget Web2.0, various frameworks of Javascript. JAVA is definitely a must, to allow to integrate different platforms/technologies.

(2). Streaming Video/Audio : Red5 (Red5.com), Videolan

If your focus is on Corporate/Intranet, then it is a whole different story. Lastly, you cannot learn ONE and sit on your bum for the next 30 years.
