You do not have to take my advice, of course, but I am just trying to warn you to stick with a more reputable registrar, such as GoDaddy.com.
I have unlocked my domains I purchased a couple days ago from yahoo and ipower without any problems, it is all in the control panel and only needed to use the guide they provided on how to unlock my domain.

I understand that it may have been in the past you could not unlock the domain, but now it is possible. The only bad thing I found out about the 2.99 yahoo domain names was that you had to pay around $8 extra dollars for them to keep your WHOIS information private. Their is free WHOIS privacy with ipower.

Hi pollution, glad to hear of your success. Perhaps they changed their policies. But I do know that I tried as recently as May, and they still would not let me do it.

Good luck to you.

Check this out, it was posted on the website itself....

* Note: Limit 50 domain names per customer at special $2.95 pricing. Pricing valid for first year only. Domains will renew at $8.25 at time of renewal, unless volume pricing arrangements have been made.

If the site does not do well I will not renew the domain name. It is cheaper if the site does not make it.

Beware Of Ipower!

I have been using IPOWER domain registration services for about 3 or 4 months now, and although their service has been the worse I have ever encountered I stuck with them because of their excellent $2.95 price.

As someone said previously, they have this 50 domain limitation which I hadn't noticed, and it is OK to have this limit if they want to, BUT WHAT IS NOT OK is their system is so poorly designed you do not know when you reached the 50 domain limit, and even when you are overlimit, their system says you will be charged $2.95 per domain BUT IN FACT THEY CHARGE $6.95

IPOWER does not give you an account where you can check how many domains you have bought from them. In fact, it is impossible to even buy more than 1 domain per order so you have to complete the whole registration process for each domain.

Also note, their server is very slow and in the 3 or 4 months I've been using their services, it has been down AT LEAST 6 times, preventing me from buying some domains at a particular time and having to return the next day to see if things were working again.

BE CAREFULL also when you purchase a domain from them, go immediately to another registrar to check the domain is not available anymore: 4 times I registered, re-registered and then tried again to register different domains and received the confirmation, BUT THEY WERE NOT REGISTERED so anyone could have registered them elsewhere!!!

Their support is the worst I have encountered, they have a live chat that is useless because they will almost allways tell you to contact their support department by mail, which takes at least 24 hours to respond. Don't expect an answer from them during weekends. The only time I received a good service from the live chat was when I made some pre-sales questions (obviously!).

Finally, regarding the transfer of the domains, I haven't arrived to that yet. I was able to change unlock all my domains to change the DNS as I host all of them at surpasshosting.com and kionic.com (excellent support from both companies, not sure about how their prices compare to what you guys have but if you ever run into problems I recomend any of these 2 companies).

I don't know for how long they have been offering the $2.95 domains, but if it's been close to one year it would be great that someone tries to transfer one of their domains to make sure there will be no problem and tell us how it went!

So BEWARE! I wouldn't buy anything else from IPOWER.COM (same as IPOWERWEB.COM) due to the lack of support and issues with their web server which tell me their hosting services must be very bad too...

I will tell you what they say about all this as soon as I get an answer (which sould take about 24 hours )

Sven

Hello again, I just received my account login info (after 3 or 4 months)! How convenient for them. I have 57 domains registered with them but 3 of them they are charging twice!

Be very attentive if you decide to conduct business with these people!
