Hey Everyone,

I am mixing up charity with blogging.

My Fiance is currently looking for sponsors for the March of Dimes, March for Babies walk that she participates every year. In order to try to get a few extra donations for the cause this year I am holding a blog contest.

What is in it for you?

I am going to be giving away prizes to people who donate to the fund. So far I am giving away 1 blog/site review to anyone who donates to the cause and 1 free ad space on creadiv.com. I have okayed it with my business partner and we are going to be giving away 1 free wordpress theme to 1 lucky person who donates, this is a $600.00 value. Jason from The University Kid is giving away a free copy of his eguide to living well to every donater and a free review of your site on his site, a $60.00value.

Creadiv- What you are trying to do is 100% a good thing... becareful though some states have laws that make it illegal to give compensation to people for donations. In MD you have to register your give away with the state Attorney General before you can give compensation. I'm sure there is a 1 in 10000000 chance someone is going to give you grief over this... but just FYI... I do fund raising for a living.

Thanks Roger, I had no idea that this good be a problem I will look into it. Where should I start to look?

To be honest with you... if this is a one time small thing... I would just becareful how you move forward... by the time you got a letter back from the right people... next years event may be over... If you are going to be doing this on an on going bases then you would need to start with the charity you are raising the money for and then on to the Attorney Generals Office. Don't put to much effort into this.... You may even be able to get a letter from the charity giving you permission for your give away. More likely then not they may already have a letter from the AG's Office that you can operate under.
