Can anyone please advise me where to check the web stats for a website? Any free service to check. I used to use cpanel, how accurate is this? Is there any other website that offer something like, we type in website address, and the total hits and unique visitors will be revealed? The way like how you check domain registration info and availability...

alexa's one option, and then you have the media matrix/ comscore/ hitwise reports

For alexa its quite inaccurate as it can register and record the peoples traffic that have the alexa toolbar installed... and I guess maybe only 1 or 2% of this whole forum have that installed. Thats how inaccurate it is. To record and analyse your website stats Google Analytics are leading the market

Has anyone actually used hitwise before? I got a call from one of the representative before, but the price they charge is crazy. Its like in the 10,000 AUD mark from what I remember (p/a).

cPanel should include a couple of stat programs. My cPanel has Webalizer and AwStats. I use AwStats the most. They should be the most accurate you can get. If you don't have them, ask your host to install them. If your host doesn't, find a new host.

One of my hosts uses cPanel and webalizer. they dont have plans to put awstats on the host, which sucks but i can still install it myself. i find awstats to be much more informative than webalizer.
