Blog Theme

I'm finishing up my book and I'm going to make a blog to promote it. But I have two options to choose:

1.) I can develop a blog about racing (my topic) and advertise with links/logos to promote the book on the blog. I would buy a domain name and name the overall site different than the book. Most of the readers wouldn't know I was the author of the book. I would lose advertising value but at the same time I can develop my blog to compete as an opinion racing site than just a blog to promote a book. I would also be able to use the blog to promote the book with reviews and it would seem as an outside source.

2.) I can name the site and the domain name after the book and have a direct relation with it.

What do you think?

I think branding your website after your book would be the best idea, however having a seperate blog used to promote your "book" domain would also be a good idea.

You would hit two birds with one stone, get traffic to your blog which inturn you can redirect them to your "branded" domain.

I plan to have a seperate non-blog site for the book to give its description and merchant account link which I also have to find.

Are you suggessting I make a general racing blog to promote a book blog that is connected with the book?

I suggest you have a blog attached to the non-blog site for the book. Use the blog to keep people updated with any news, product reviews etc.

Then if you have enough time, start a seperate bog on a topic related to the book. If you turn this blog into a valuable resource people will buy your book. I can give you more tips if you want just PM me

Could I simplify things and make one overall blog? In the blog would be news and opinions about racing (my topic) while I could also post info and updates about my book. I could name the blog after the book and it would have a direct affiliation with the non-blog book site.
