Just thought it would post a story with a happy ending!

In February this year one of my websites was hacked and completely destroyed (partly thanks to the host not helping me protect the site

)

I decided to just sell the domain and cut my losses, then I had a U-Turn and ended up keeping the domain, so I decided to bring it back as a small resource site.

3 months later, with no money spent and only a few days time used up it is nearly complete, its getting about 20 clicks per day from Adsense and has been accepted by TLA, once Ive done a bit more promotion It will require little maintenance and should bring in a nice few $$$ per month.

The site Im talking about is Free Stock Images . Although I was going to forget it Im now glad I didnt as it makes a nice addition to my business!

If you don't mind my asking, how many visitors do you receive per day?

If you don't mind, would you describe a little about what safety precautions would have protected your site? One of my sites caters to college students and either students on campus (or students of a rival campus) might find it particularly amusing to hack into the site. I'd love to prevent that.

It averages about 500 unique visitors per day, put pageviews reach over 1000, CTR ranges between 2-2.5%

The site ran on a script so that photographers could upload images and visitors could create an account to delete them. The site was gradually hacked over a period of a few months, the host never told me and when it was completely hacked the host said something like

"because of the activities our servers monitored we havent been backing your site up for sometime"

They never warned me what was going on, and I had no idea! As for protecting your site I really can't offer any advice, I know very little about protecting sites.

I would ask on the DP forum as there are plenty of techies on there who can offer some good avice.

About 60%, but the site is also listed in some quality photography resources and webmaster resource sites.

Got a bit more work to do submitting to dirs and getting a few more resource listings and then will just let the revenues bump up my accounts a little.

Considering the site was hacked it feels good to have it back and more profitable than ever!

I think it is. The site doesnt have any large scripts that can be hacked. And I now have better passwords for my hosting access (I.E numbers, letters etc)

None of my other sites have been hacked so I think it will be ok. I guess sites quickly become a target when they build up large amounts of users, this doesnt have that so Im hoping it won't be targetted at all.
