Where was this presentation? Do you have a website will it be in sydney?

I'm freaking out. they're floating http://www.wotif.com/ to make like 300million bucks and I didn't get my cut.

On a totally unrelated note, I'm keeping their prospectus under my bed as a kind of financial pornography. I can't beleive a bookings website can make so much money

WOAH! That's crazy... well I guess even simple listings sites can make a nice sum per year. Thinking Australian, www.realestate.com.au is bringing in 8mil a year, so anything's possible.

Yeah I know, small business doesn't have terribly much room to expand beyond the typical family small business.

I found myself laughing (to myself of course ) during their little presentation... don't these people know about the business opportunities on the net!

hehe, I should have clarified "presentation".

It was basically a presentation a friend noticed was on at uni, because it was actually one that had to do with "business" or "entrepreneurship". It was just an hour long thing put together by SIFE students from the uni.

haha, yeah you know, there are investment bankers who look at us, laugh and wonder out loud why anyone gets out of bed for less than 50k, "don't these people know about opportunities in FOREX?"

Is it a union? Looks a bit left wing to me if you know what I mean.

It's like a non-profit organisation which encourages the students to startup business ventures which help the community in some way. They have a competition each year where students from over Australia present the projects they've done etc. The winners from that then go onto the international competition.

It sounded pretty interesting when they had their clubs day at uni so I joined, but the projects they're currently doing are pretty easy, lame and unprofitable. e.g. they're doing an environmental thing with the council, BCP (Business Continuity Plans) for local businesses and a HSBC financial literacy program.

I'm keen to start a young entrepreneur organisation/group next year (or perhaps earlier) and turn it into an Australia-wide thing. The plan would be to get a whole heap of people involved... I remember there was a thread a little while back with interest. I'll gather it all together when I find some time.

cheers
nathan

Starting and maintain a auction website is crazily hard, esp getting peopel to join and list under you, and to also make sure that all sellers are "clean" and not shoddy bastards.

Anyways, I know the guys over at www.oztion.com.au since last year, and watched them grow from a relatively small website, into a National house hold name for some. If you do a google search on them, yo'ull find that they have been on "Channel Nine" and various other publications.

I always find it very interesting to watch a business which started of slowly grow so fast and big.

=)
