Articles on your site and others...

I was curios on your thoughts,

Should you place articles that you have written for publishing purposes on your own website?

For instance, you write an article specifically for the purpose of submitting it to an ezine company in hopes of it being published. Is it okay to publish this article on your own site as well?

Or you could reverse the situation. You write an article to build the content of your site. Is it okay to try to get it published?

I know that SE spiders look for original content. Would having the same article on your site and another site hurt it in the long run?

The way I see it, I use article submission as a means of generating links back to the original content. If you don't link back, all you are doing is establishing yourself as an author, without generating any tangible results other than credibility and exposure for yourself.

The aim of the game for me is to spread the word about my site by havin original content from my site replicated on other portals. All this would be useless if I didn't mention the url of my site in my autor bio, which i'm sure to do every single time.
