Article writing - is it the best way to become popular?

Hi, recently I've asked about the best way to promote a site. Thanks for such detailed and useful answers guys!

Most of you gave me advice to use article writing to promote my site.

"article writing is very useful it gets you back links and creates a name for yourself online" - this is the quotation of the last comments in my thread.

But why this method is so useful? As I know the main idea of this method is to post articles that contains links to my site. Would be great to know which sites are the best for posting articles? And how to determine does the site allows to post articles with links or no?

Thanks

Hey,

I am not an SEO king or any thing...in fact I struggle with search engine placement, however from experience article writing is VERY useful in spreading your url.

I wrote just two articles with my link embedded in them and a few months later found that articles duplicated and spread to various different sites... and these were very crappy articles i wrote with haste at the beginning of my online journey.

So my point is, I have no seo experience, nor do I have article writing expertise, and yet the writing of those articles still proved to be beneficial.

So if you put some time into writing some quality articles and lots of them, then you are going to be very successful in promoting your business.

I used Ezine articles to do my writing, they allow a max of three of your links in your article and I think that includes your author bio which appears at the bottom of all your articles.

Have you considered a press release as well? I myself have not used one, but if you are serious about promoting your business, for a fee a press release will do the job. Its a good thing!

Depends on your type of business. If your business is based on knowledge, like a consultancy firm, say, or a content site; then yes. This is an excellent way to market. Remember that you should write articles as much for online publications (those that match your target market) as for off line ones.

Through proliferous quality articles, you are branding YOU as an expert in your field, so people are more likely to trust the YOU brand. Also offer nibbles of information through newsletters, so as to keep an open line of communication with those who where attracted to your site by your articles in the first place. Otherwise, they will just forget your name until they come accross onother one of your articles.

When writing copy for your articles, refer to previous pieces, or white papers that you have written, as well as use key phrases (sound bites) that will aid in firing the right synapses in the reader's minds.

If you are not in the knowledge business, then the value of articles is much more limited, but still very valuable. This is because people place much more trust on what they believe to be impartial and independent data, when compared to blatant advertisements. Evidence of this is in the effectiveness of advertorials, which cover a middle ground.

Its a more effective and efficient way to market your products/services. The only problem is, that you will have to have newsworthy items on a regular basis. Too many gaps in impressions and your effectiveness will suffer greatly.

Good luck

Sam

If not for SEO, I've at least had great increases in traffic after any of my articles are published.

Is article marketing the best way to become popular?

Who knows?

Different techniques work for different businesses

But article marketing is certainly right up there.

Article marketing has been berry, berry good to me!

I've tried this technique out for the first time a few weeks ago with a brand new domain. I think it is pretty effective at getting your name out there and at the same time you get to write about things that interest you. What I do is submit content I have written for my own site to a bunch of article directories, making sure that I always reference my original site back. This ensures that you get some pretty decent back links.
