Are e-mail list dead?

More and more people are leaving one of my list... went from 4000 to 2000 oop in in a year... the content has not change, just the names are dead or people just don't have the time to check out the site (not the mentalhealthhumor.com site) It for the window cleaning industry that one I'm talking about.

The site is real small only 3500 to 4500 hits a month...lol I sure some of you guys het that in a day...lol

After my last mailing I sampled a few of the people that asked to be removed and they said, it not me or my side it just they get so much e-mail they just want to reduce what they can...

So back to my question, it e-mail a dead technology? Should i be using the RSS and blogs instead of my websites?

Emails not dead per say, it's just not really the best thing to use for that sort of stuff

Newsgroups and RSS are always more specifically on target for the audience, and fun things can be done through social networking sites and SMS.
Email, like fax, is once again becoming a business tool like it was originally intended to be.

I think that email lists are still great but are a biz tool like you said. I do really well with my list but I always post my social link sites in my signature and tell my readers how I am doing with them and it works well.!

I don't think e-mail lists are that effective for advertisements. Just thinking about it from a consumer's perspective, when I get an e-mail advertisement I delete it without even opening it first. I consider it junk mail and who wants junk mail?

Far from it. Many of the internet's top marketers still rely on this method.

Talking

Emails still work...that's the first ever thing that I open when I switch on my laptop.

I believe on writing emails that attract. I used to think that emails with a lot of pictures work till I realize that it end up in SPAM boxes. Then I realize only half of my readers actually open up the emails..

So from time to time you need to ask why? Probably you need to change your titles...It could be boring if you keep having the same title over and over...Put less adverts more content but keep it short.

Your email list should be viewed as a dynamic and informative process, one has to keep it up to speed with the desire of the market at which it is aimed; hard work but don't let it stagnate.
