Post Approaches to becoming an entrepreneur

Now when i think about someone becoming an "Entrepreneur" i think of it as a big learning curve. We are all (well most of us) taught to work for money as children. For most people that is fine and for some (like us) it is not fine at all. Now most people cannot just quit working or they have the wrong view about working and being an entrepreneur. I personally take the approach of learning by working in different industries and in different jobs. I guess that would make me a generalist but i like to think of it as being "Well rounded" so that i can expand outward as i grow older and wiser.

My main focus is developing long-term assets now. I am not interested in fly-by-night operations. I am in this game for long-term growth. It can be hard sometimes to balance work, business and personal lives but again it is all a learning opportunity and probably a crash course in time management. I remember when i'd be happy doing the odd web project or odd job but those days are over. I think realising that and acting on that separates the men from the boys (No offense to the ladies reading this).

I am currently working a high-tech software company (which will remain nameless) and enjoying the opportunity to learn. I am not that interested in advancement because of business plans that i am setting in place and my interest to learn a lot more about REI (Real estate Investing). My whole view is one of looking at the long term because you can always out-perform the short term in the long term. Don't focus on making $5 today, focus on making a million, a billion.... what have you in the long run. I see so many entrepreneurs wanting to make money now. Everyone does but you need long term vision and goals to achieve any real wealth in the world. Any Get Rich Quick scheme is just that. Focus on developing for the long-term. Stay interested in the world and keep growing and openinig yourself to new ideas and thoughts and explore them.

That's my view on what it is to be an entrepreneur.... what's yours?

Being an entrepreneur = taking risks in business ... I think that's what it all comes down to.

Yeah the get-rich-quick schemes very rarely work out. However I'm at the stage that I currently don't have much money to my name, and in the next few weeks my final high school exams will be over and I will finally have time to develop some of the ideas I have with a friend.

So currently, I would love to create a successful get-rich-quick plan (legally, no pyramid schemes or what not)... I'd want to do this not so much to just get rich, but so I can generate a large sum of capital in a short period of time that I can then use to startup other investments that will be aimed at creating long-term passive income.

If I were the guy behind the million dollar homepage... I would be using that money to reinvest as startup capital into other ventures.

cheers
