Since Alexa gives you a Daily Reach (per million), what is the best way to approximate actual traffic a site is receiving?

go into your cpanel and access AWStats

are you talking about approximating the traffic of someone else's site?

Here's what I do:

I try to find stats on how many millions of internet users there are. Some good information can be found here: http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm

Take the daily reach per million and multiply it by the estimated number of millions of net users.

So for example if a site has a daily reach of 25, I would guess that they get 25 * 1092 = 27300 hits per day.

This figure is not accurate, nor is it very useful. But if you want to guess how many people visit a site, it is better than no clue at all.

Prof, that is correct. I want to figure out stats for a website other then my own.

I know it isn't a reliable way to calculate off of Alexa numbers, but looking for anything to estimate traffic.

a lot of people say alexa rating is really not that useful because a user that is viewing your site must be using the alexa toolbar? is this so?
