Advice Please
Roadblocks. I've hit one myself.
I'm missing a piece of the puzzle. I have the store, but not the customers. I've tried Google adwords, eBay, but nothing is working. Finding traffic and customers it the HARDEST part.
Do you make a decent income selling products? Please share what you are doing. My budget is EXTREMELY LIMITED, so spending much money isn't an option. Help/Advice?

Hi Ryan,
I do make a good amount of money selling physical products but the keys I have found to my success are:
1) A very good niche with little competition
2) Doing lots of free adveritisng using forums, articles, youtube, etc...
3) Advertising through my past customers, turning them into affiliates
4) Not only researching the niche, but the cost to advertise in a niche before I get started...
It's tricky, I think people online see all these sites and think "they must be making money" but 75% of sites online don't make any money and its just a few that have develop a brand that people trust and recognize and sell things in a good niche in a unique and innovative way. Best of luck to you!

LOL, ofcourse finding customers is the hardest part.
Welcome to the world of business kid.
You need to do alot of research and lots of reading... Ironic isn't it? Your the one who keep's telling people here to do as a defense mechanism whenever someone disagrees with you here.
But yeah, SEO, do your homework.
Don't bother with other methods if you lack funding.

Tell us a little about your business.
Industry?
On or Offline? Both?
Who is your target demographic?
Where does your customer normally go to find your product?

I know finding customers and traffic is the hardest part. Thats why I stated that.
I might have a few parts nailed down, but I'm not a know it all. You can't have everything come to you in a day.
I'm working on providing tutorials and information about photography and cameras, as well as care and cleaning. What it comes down to is trying to build a community forums and get great discussions going, where everyone can share their experiences with each other. I'm hoping that will grow to opt-in email lists so I can market that way aswell.
Easier said than done though, and technical work follows

if I were you, I would focus on building relationships with pricegrabber.com and other similar sites, there are several of them.
I have no idea how that type of stuff works, but if you invested some time into figuring it out, it would probably increase customers as long as your prices are competitive .

Definitely have to promote to, in whatever means you decide to do it, to the public that your products/services appeal to. That may be a duh, but a lot of people think they just need to "promote". Just figure out how you will appeal to the people that would be possible customers.
