i want a payment system where you dont need to register to use it like paypal as if they dont have an account it would waste them time in setting one up.

with the paypal shopping basket you can pay via most credit cards and debit cards...

the customer doesnt actually have to sign up to paypal to buy your products

When I was shopping for an ecommerce payment system, I found PayPal had the lowest rates. I'm not sure if that is still the case, but PayPal definitely offers many features for the money.

Another company you may want to look at is 2checkout. I haven't personally used them, but I heard they are pretty good: http://www.2checkout.com/

2CheckOut has some "hidden" or reserve fees that they add to a transaction which i recently found out... not to happy about this because the "Reserve Fee" that they hold is for a term of no less then 3 months (1 Quarter) for roughly about 5% of the transaction so instead of a transaction going through and 2Checkout taking 5.5% which is the advertised rate they also take and hold an additional 5% so this is just a word of caution on that system. 10.5% of the funds being held is a little hard for me to stomach.

Their is an advertisement for the website charge.com that I have seen on YE (at the bottom of this page actually). Definatly worth checking out, the prices seem very cheap compared to many available hosts. AT the same time, however, this is what may make me skeptical. Try doing some research on the company and see what turns up.

whoa!

"- Buyers were required to create accounts with PayPal. Some of my clients would report to me that some of them would not buy because of this, while others reported they would not buy because they could..."

I thought this was done away with? I haven't seen any documentation showing PayPal requiring someone to sign up - is this a new requirement? I thought they 'used to' require - but had since changed? I did have a problem in that if you had a credit card assigned to a PayPal account and were trying to make a purchase that it would ask you to 'log in' - but I was surprised to read your comments...

...now you have me panicking, jgarifuna...

btw - that's a sound article you wrote...very well done.
