A BuytheMap update!

Hey all, Entrepreneur has been a great source of info for me, and thought I would provide a bit of an update...

Country sales going well, I think about 30sold now, 120,000hits, and a £1k in terms of sales!

Also have some great people on board, Gnomeland, Mongolia Rally, other PixelPreneurs...

And there are about 10 copycats to..

Anyway a call for help! Any other ideas, improvements people would like to see...

I have an idea for myself, it is really more an experiment to see how stupid people are when buying pixels/countries etc. All proceeds will go to a charity. I will keep you posted on its development.

I absolutely agree, the only thing worse than pixel ad sites are people claiming to have an idea that will revolutionize pixel ads...my proposed one is nothing new...which is exactly the point. I intend to repackage the same old sh*t as something new and see how many idiots out there will buy into it.

I agree, the thing is you can make money with all things, take good ideas and turn them around to something more unique, put a spin on or niche the original idea, pixel sites there Sh~t loads, some make money some dont, does it matter tho...

I think pixel sites, advertising business is over, its too saturated.

There is still room for something great using tews idea...

I think people just give it ago (pixel stuff) just to see what could happen, but you gotta be smart top make it work.

Answer me this, how would you advertise your pixel site and make poeple buy on yours when theres so much competition.. (this is not directed at anyone inparticular)

Easily... I would login to the linux server where my site is being hosted and type "rm -fdr /*"

That would take care of it

Congratulations on your sales so far, looks like youre doing alright with this project. However, I am not a fan of these types of sites. While your idea varies somewhat, all of these pixel ad sites are similar in nature. The major is ridiculously oversaturated at this point, with new sites of this type rolling out everyday. I am happy to see that you have had a fair amount of success with it thus far, but I think continued profits will be difficult. This isn't a sustainable business model.

I use Ebay to keep the word out there and it also means people like to come back and see what countries are going for.....for instance China is a $60 now whereas Morroco about $3 ?! So its quite fun to see which the 'better' countries are...as for sustainable business model, well there are so many sites out there looking for links, traffic - I know I have paid for links to. It is a sustainable business model because costs are so low, its just whether prices will continue going up - or they will fall off.

i am looking at building further content behind the map, but looking for the right project first...income from the map will help lauch that....

Oh forgot to add - Im having fun!

Bonkers!
China has gone up to $255 (officially the most expensive place in the world!)

So how much longer until all these MDHP rip-offs abondon their uncreative recreations and try to put a poor spin on this big idea:

Maybe a giant staple or elastic band. Yeah, that'll reinvent the craft of swapping crap for media hype.
