A business Idea: Make money by writing notes on facebook
This is something I just thought about in the past 5mins. What if you created a system for students to get paid by writing notes on Facebook. Here’s what I mean.
If an advertiser wants to expose a product or website to students, they’ll come to this theoretical site, let’s say (paidtonote.com) post an opportunity and then students can log onto this site and select an opportunity to write on. The student will get paid after writing the note about the advertisers product.
It’s very similar to PayPerPost.com or reviewme.com but it will be restricted to facebook students and facebook notes.
Students will get paid based on the number of friends they have. Meaning, the more friends you have the more money you make because more friends = more views.
This sounds like a very viable concept and I’m willing to find someone that can lead this. I have too much on my plate right now so if someone out there is determined to see this through I will make the first financial and other investments.
(I also have more details about the project)

i work for Australian facebook and we probably wouldn't like to see this implemented because unsolicited commercial messages all over the place would make for an annoying user experience (devaluing our product)
it's like this; we (the management) are the ones who sell ads on our site, and
if another startup starts to sell ads on our site (i.e. paidtonote.com), we'd ban them because they are profiting from our page views, and because they're facilitating spam
something tells me this would work better on myspace

think bigger...Profit share with facebook. I'm sure it'll affect your bottomline thus higher valuation. In addition, students will be instructed to only write on things they actually do enjoy.

Moved to correct section.

I think it's an awesome idea! I would be interested in possibly pursuing this one with you.

Nice idea. But you've got problems like akula mentioned they find out your profiting they'll ban you. However, you mentioned profit share so they could be interested in that.
Anyways good luck with your venture. Hope it takes off

well...look....for a social networking site, our objective is to sell advertising
what you're saying is that in addition to selling banners, we can sell advertisers a list of members who'll agree to promote certain offers, to certain prospects, for a certain price (err...let's say, all the tracking metrics can be implemented to make this possible)
because we have our hands full, you're offering this profit sharing deal where you operate the whole thing, and we get a cut of your revenues for not banning the relevant member accounts. obviously, if the concept works, we can just cut you out and sell this kind of advertising our selves - which is bad for paidtonote.com, but it's not like you can do anything about it.
now.....aside the contract risk, as you can see.....every profile listed on facebook (and studentface) has a "[ Report this person ]" feature. it's there for a reason. we (and facebook) don't want people to post commercial messeges on people's boards because these are unsolicited commercial messages, they are illegal and we don't want to support illegal conduct even if doing so might result in some hypothetical financial gain.
essentially, if you launch this thing and have facebook members getting reported for being spammers, facebook won't have any other option but to ban these members. is there gonna be some sort of a special class of members who can't get banned? I don't think so.
Likewise, as studentface, we are not criminals and won't engage in criminal enterprises (i.e. supporting spam). it doesn't matter if the messages are about what students "actually do enjoy". if the message is commercial and unsolicited, it's illegal.
overall: I can see what you're saying. There might be a way to make money from this. But, obviously, neither us, no anyone else will be interested in this deal if it's contrary to the intentions of the spam act.
How is paidtonote.com not illegal? Will the person receiving the message be able to opt-out of receiving future messages, or will they need to use the "[ Report this person ]" feature to stop their board getting spammed?

Ah, my friend, looks like you've got the concept all wrong. It will not be promoting spam as you will NOT be required to write on people's walls. All the facebook user (student) will have to do is to write a note on THEIR own notes sections and they dont even have to tag any of their friends. This works for the following reasons:
1) Students will write about interesting things
2) Students will make more use of the "notes" feature
3) Everyone makes money including the students
4) A donation could be made to schools based on a percentage of revenue generated. (I could go on and on, but I bet you someone is already building it as we speak)
Maybe I'm building it ;-)

...and everytime a user views a note, the social network can of course display their own ads as always.
